Tomte was founded in 1996 by Thees Uhlmann in Hemmoor in Lower Saxony. After two respectable albums highly praised by critics (“Du weißt was ich meine” and “Eine sonnige Nacht”) came the breakthrough in 2003 with their third album “Hinter all diesen Fenstern”. The album stayed in the charts for weeks and is the most influential indie-rock album in recent years.
Their most recent album “Heureka” was released in 2008.
