Whether Christmas is just around the corner, you’re anticipating the next gig, or you simply want to give yourself a little treat: there are certain things that musicians always need which make everyday life on and off stage a little better. We have put together some practical and truly useful products, all under €40.00 RRP, that no musician should be without. User-friendly, sturdy and reliable – precisely what you would expect from K&M.
And best of all: There’s a giveaway at the end of the article!
Fretted and string instruments
Have you put your instrument down and propped it up against something because you had no stand? We all been there. But it could be so simple, like with these two instrument stands, which are functional, small, lightweight and always ready to hand. Our favourites of the day:
Violin/Ukulele display stand 15550 – small but mighty! The stand for small stringed instruments such as violins and ukuleles holds the instruments securely and also looks great.
Guitar stand »Memphis Travel« 17550 – as high as an A4 sheet of paper, this stand for electric and acoustic guitars is compact, but no less stable.
Ideal for those who want to park their instrument safely and elegantly – when practising, on stage, in the studio, rehearsal room or even at home.
Drums
If improvisation is required anywhere, it’s on the drum set. Stay in the groove:
Microphone stand 25400 – inexpensive, lightweight and therefore particularly suitable for musicians on the go.
Ideal for streaming, podcast, studio and small stages.

Unusual, melodious, interesting – a collection of unusual instruments
Whether electric guitar, trumpet or cello – at König & Meyer, we offer perfectly fitting stands, holders and other accessories for almost all well-known and widely used musical instruments. But what about instruments that you hardly ever see on stage or in music shops? Those that are so unusual that they often don’t need a stand – because they lie on your lap, float in the air or are even homemade?
Today, on “Unusual Musical Instruments Day”, we present six extraordinary instruments and check what equipment we can offer to support them.
Acoustic and extraordinary
1. Hang drum
It looks like a UFO and sounds like a mixture of a harp and a steel drum: the hang drum is played with the hands and is usually held on the lap or on a cushion. Anyone who practises meditation or yoga will certainly be familiar with this instrument. It is ideal for meditative sound journeys and relaxation. The hang drum is also often found among street musicians: it is practical because it is played while seated and requires pure intuition.
2. Glass harmonica
An instrument like something from another world: rotating glass discs are made to sing with moistened fingers. Made famous by Mozart and Benjamin Franklin, it remains a rare gem – usually permanently installed, not intended for use on stage.
Ethnic & World Music
3. Didgeridoo
The oldest wind instrument in the world comes from Australia and requires one thing above all else: lung capacity. The instrument is played while seated, with the 1 to 2.5 metre long didgeridoo held “simply” on the floor or between the legs. No extras – just an unmistakably deep, pulsating sound. The instrument can be stored in an oboe stand such as the 18020.
4. Kora
The West African harp lute with 21 strings is a marvel made of calabash, leather and wood. Traditionally, the player sits cross-legged with the kora on the floor leaning against their body. Elegant and minimalistic – just like its sound. The plucked instrument can be stored in a guitar stand, for example, the »Heli 2«.
Experimental & modern
5. Waterphone
It sounds like something out of a horror film – and that’s exactly what it’s used for: the Waterphone produces ghostly sounds by rubbing and striking metal rods over a water-filled resonance chamber. Goosebumps guaranteed, no stand required. If desired, a laptop stand (seen below in the slider) can be used as a shelf.
6. Theremin
A classic of the avant-garde: the theremin is played without being touched – hands control pitch and volume via two antennas. The box, which is usually rectangular, can be placed on a table, or you can actually use a keyboard or laptop stand. Some models have a 3/8 inch connection for a microphone stand.
The world of music is huge, colourful and sometimes pretty weird – in the best possible way! The instruments presented here demonstrate how versatile and creative sound can be. Most of them manage without much technology or equipment. However, in some cases, our products may still be helpful.
Have you ever heard or even played one of these instruments? Or do you know of any other unusual sound wonders?

Looking forward to great events in the music industry

We are looking forward to the following trade shows:
Guitar Summit in Mannheim from September 9 to 11, 2022

Since the first show in 1901, NAMM – National Association of Music Merchants – has aimed to bring together industry representatives, press and musicians from around the world to learn about the latest products, techniques and innovations in the music world. At the same time, the NAMM Show+ format is designed to bridge the gap to the virtual world.
Guitar Summit
In late summer, from September 9 to 11, 2022, the “Who’s Who” of the guitar industry will meet at Guitar Summit. The place to be is the Rosengarten in Mannheim. Our support to promote your sales
Just like us as a manufacturer, you as a retailer also have an interest in presenting products at your store as appealingly as possible. With that in mind, we have developed a number of point of sale (POS) products for you that also highlight our products as high-quality name-brand items with the craftsmanship customers expect from products Made in Germany. These items should help enhance sales appeal as you talk with customers.
The two product displays are perfect as a simple and attractive way to present the merchandise, while also offering easy and space saving storage options. The two product displays ensure an attractive and space-saving design of the display. They provide enough space for the compact little helpers from K&M to be ready to hand for the customer to purchase at a glance.
The product tree is a true eye-catcher for any store and showroom and also presents the music accessories very well outside their packaging. The dummies for our popular tablet holders are an excellent way to show your customers in-store just how the holders work and all the options they offer when used with a tablet.
Our product lable bundle is an easy, standardized, and informative way to label products in your store. If you have the lable bundle on hand, you can print the desired label right from the product section of our website and insert them into the A6 plastic covers. This gives your customers all the information they need about the product, the product image, and the QR code linking to the mobile version of the König & Meyer website, all in one place. You can also enter your current price yourself with the rest of the information.
The advertising mat is a wonderful way to carve out a presentation space for our products on the floor of your store and add visual impact. The big roll-ups attract customers’ attention, and the ceiling display is guaranteed to pull them over to the K&M music accessories.
The table below provides an overview of all POS products once again. It contains all the important information: product number, name, and illustration. To place an order or if you have any questions, please contact Ulrich Soden (us@k-m.de) or your responsible salesperson.

As using tablets and smarthones in combination with a drum set became very popular over the last years, V-drum Tips made a great video about how to apply your mobile device to your music gear. They checked out our K&M 19791 Tablet Holder and 19745 Smartphone Holder. Two products that helps to mount the device to any kind of music stand.
The 19791 Tablet Holder is suitable for iPads that have a at least a size of 9.7″ (iPad (2017), iPad 2-4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro 9.7″- 12.9″) and tablets ranging in height from 222-334 mm and width from 128-232 mm. The depth can vary between 6 and 11 mm. V-drum Tips used an iPad Pro 9.7.
The 19745 Smartphone Holder is suitable for all smartphones, such as e.g. iPhone 4, iPhone 6 Plus or Samsung Galaxy with widths ranging from 44 to 84 mm.
From unpacking to mounting – and finally using: Take a moment to watch this great video:
Conclusion: “So no matter if you are a drummer, singer, guitar player or a flutist, you do probably need some sort of smart device. And since you have already spend a fortune on your tablet or phone, you want TO MAKE SURE your mounting gear is reliable.”
Thanks to Vdrum-Tips!
